Speaking at the 22nd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperative Organization (SCO) Summit in Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly put his side in front of the world, including China and Russia.
He talked about India’s efforts to make Rajasthan’s main yield market more popular, stressing tackling the challenge of food security. SCO could play a big role in marking 2023 as the international millet year, he said. The PM said a potential solution to the problem is to promote millet farming and consumption. Millet is a superfood that has been grown not only in SCO countries but in many parts of the world for thousands of years and is a traditional, nutritious and low-cost option to tackle the food crisis. The year 2023 will be celebrated as the Sanra Bajra International Year. We should consider organizing the ‘Millet Food Festival’ under SCO.
