Mr. Kalyan Singh Kothari

The experience of Mr. Kalyan Singh Kothari as a journalist spans nearly 30 years. Currently working as a freelance journalist accredited with the Government of Rajasthan, he is attached as a media consultant with the U.N. bodies and several civil society organizations.

Mr. Kothari is a recipient of the prestigious Manak Alankaran Award, presented by Rajasthan Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Gehlot in 2011for his investigative and creative journalistic career. He runs a media and communication advocacy NGO, Lok Samvad Sansthan, which has earned laurels for its distinguished work in the state and elsewhere.

Mr. Kothari, born in 1944 and holding graduation degrees in English Literature and Law, is the Chairman of the Public Relations Society of India, Jaipur Chapter. He has been a media consultant with One World South Asia, UNICEF-Rajasthan, Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur, Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), New Delhi, Center for Community Economics and Development Consultants Society, Jaipur, and Rajasthan Knowledge Corporation Limited, Jaipur. Mr Kothari organised two All India Media Media Educators Conferences in Jaipur in 2015 and 2016 with the collaboration of the University of Rajasthan, Manipal University and Amity University. He was selected for a number of fellowships, bursaries and awards by the organizations such as the U.N. Millennium Campaign, German Agro Action, World Bank’s Water and Sanitation Program-South Asia, Action Aid and Micronutrient Initiative, Canada. He also contributed to the production of short documentary films.

In the past, Mr. Kothari worked as a journalist for Rajasthan Patrika, United News of India and All India Radio and extensively covered the two India-Pakistan wars in 1965 and 1971 as an accredited war correspondent from the international border.
